Cipla Job Purpose:
Undertake research and analysis to identify new product opportunities across regions. Provide support to the portfolio selection team for decision-making and global portfolio strategy planning, aligned with the company’s growth vision.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Product Evaluation & Selection
- Identify new product/molecule opportunities across dosage forms (solid, injectable, ophthalmic, gels, sprays) based on medical and marketing feasibility.
- Analyze market sales, competition, patent expiry, therapeutic category, API suppliers, technical complexity, BE studies, and manufacturing feasibility including CAPEX and COGS calculations.
- Prepare business cases and recommend go/no-go decisions to the portfolio selection committee.
2. Stakeholder Consultation & Product Launch Support
- Collaborate with R&D and Marketing to prioritize products and ensure successful launches.
- Update the competitive landscape monthly and propose strategic steps against the competition.
- Provide inputs on volume projections, batch size, trade dress, and pack sizes for launches in India and unprotected overseas markets.
3. Business Growth & In-Licensing Opportunities
- Assess new product routes: in-licensing, third-party, or in-house development.
- Evaluate in-licensing opportunities based on clinical advantage and market potential.
- Prepare business plans, coordinate development and in-licensing activities with internal teams and licensors.
- Support due diligence and M&A initiatives by providing market insights.
4. ROI & Performance Analysis
- Track new product performance against competition and gather sales/volume data.
- Calculate gross margins, manage budgets, and produce ROI reports for Portfolio Head.
Major Challenges:
- Adapting to dynamic business trends across regions affecting product strategy.
- Managing budget and technical constraints at manufacturing units with high CAPEX involvement.
Key Interactions:
- Internal: R&D, Marketing, Launch, SCM teams.
- External: In-licensing stakeholders and licensors.
Key Decisions & Recommendations:
- ROI calculations and recommendations.
- Identify new products/molecules and submit a business case with go/no-go decisions.
Education Qualification for the Cipla Job:

Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, B. Pharma, M. Pharma, from Tier I institutes preferred.
Relevant Work Experience:

3–5 years in Product Management, Portfolio, or Strategy roles.
