Job Description
The Medical Surveillance Specialist 1 role under Clinical Research Jobs at IQVIA Careers provides a wide range of medical surveillance support, including monitoring of clinical laboratory data for subjects in clinical studies, composing medical narratives, and interfacing with investigator sites.
Key Responsibilities | Clinical Research Jobs
- Monitor and evaluate laboratory results daily from the sponsor-designated central laboratory
- Evaluate and analyze laboratory data at an agreed frequency from the sponsor-designated data management system or EDC platform
- Conduct preliminary review of laboratory results relative to protocol-specific reference range guidelines
- Compare current laboratory results with prior laboratory values to evaluate clinically significant changes
- Contact investigator sites for additional clinical information and distribute findings to project teams
- Serve as liaison between the Medical Services Department, sponsor-designated laboratory, and the IQVIA Project Team
- Maintain up-to-date laboratory knowledge through continuing education or medical seminars
- Identify potentially significant trends or shifts in laboratory results and alert IQVIA Medical Advisors
- Interact with project teams to convey critical information impacting study objectives
- Work with the central laboratory staff to facilitate appropriate monitoring and reporting
- Assist Lead Medical Surveillance Specialist with project setup activities
- Attend project team meetings as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications Required for Clinical Research Jobs
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or allied health sciences, including pharmacy, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, nursing, medical laboratory sciences, or physiotherapy
- Healthcare qualifications such as medical (allopathy, homeopathy, ayurveda) or dentistry
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 2.5 years of medical surveillance experience
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Strong technical ability to comprehend and integrate scientific data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills in word processing and data management
- Strong analytical, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
