Educational Requirements
- Diploma in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hospital pharmacy operations
Key Responsibilities
- Handle prescriptions for semi-controlled and uncontrolled drugs within the hospital
- Maintain accurate records for semi-controlled drugs
- Supervise drug dispensing activities performed by Assistant Pharmacy staff
- Manage pharmacy stock, procurement entries, and inventory records
- Conduct weekly drug expiry checks and near-expiry monitoring
- Handle narcotic drugs, including receipt, issue, register updates, and emergency issues
- Double-check LASA and high-risk medications during dispensing
- Receive goods from vendors and coordinate invoice processing with purchase and finance teams
- Arrange medicines on designated racks and issue ward indents
- Perform scheduled stock audits and ensure uninterrupted drug availability
- Consult doctors for therapeutic alternatives when medications are unavailable
- Counsel patients on correct dosage, administration, and medication adherence
Skills Required
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hospital drugs, inventory management, and narcotic handling
- Computer proficiency for stock and purchase data entry
Behavioral Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
