Job Description
- Field-based scientific expert responsible for executing Medical Affairs plans for pre-launch and newly launched products
- Shapes clinical practice through scientific engagement, partnerships, and collaboration with KEEs, HCPs, and stakeholders
- Works with both traditional (specialists, physicians) and non-traditional stakeholders (policy makers, government, PAGs)
- Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with healthcare professionals and ecosystem stakeholders
- Provides scientific, technical, and pharmaco-economic information through one-on-one discussions and medical meetings
- Supports and may lead evidence generation activities aligned with the medical strategy
- Uses deep understanding of healthcare systems, patient journeys, and clinical pathways to generate insights
- Executes medical strategies to drive scalable, sustainable clinical practice transformation
- Enhances patient access to quality care and supports the adoption of innovative medicines
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Expertise
- Maintain expertise in disease management, AstraZeneca products, and emerging therapies
- Contribute to and lead Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP)
- Act as subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders
- Support training and mentoring within the therapeutic area
Scientific Exchange
- Engage in peer-to-peer scientific discussions with HCPs and key customers
- Respond to inquiries with balanced clinical/scientific information
- Deliver presentations and scientific support
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders (KEEs)
- Organize and lead scientific events, symposiums, and advisory boards
- Deliver lectures and collaborate on study proposals and publications
Customer Insight
- Gather and analyse insights from scientific and medical environments
- Provide actionable insights to internal teams
- Identify gaps in patient experience with stakeholders
Strategic Relationship
- Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders
- Identify and support study investigators
- Contribute to data generation and research activities
- Expand engagement with non-traditional stakeholders
- Develop partnerships to improve healthcare access
Other Responsibilities
- Use digital tools and innovation for scientific exchange
- Maintain knowledge of pharmacovigilance, GxP, and GCP
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations
- Follow AstraZeneca Global Field Medical Standards and SOPs
Qualification
Essential
- A scientific degree or a master’s degree in a scientific discipline
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate internally and externally using the different channel mix.
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- High-level analytical and conceptual thinking
Desirable
- Doctoral degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Pharm.D.)
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory environment, clinical, or preclinical research.
- Experience with basic research, drug discovery, drug development, and KEE interactions.
