Job Description
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring research and innovation programs across various sectors of biotechnology. The role involves regulatory appraisal, institutional management, technology facilitation, and strategic partnership development aligned with national bioeconomy priorities and the mandate of the Department of Biotechnology.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate, appraise, and monitor R&D programmes in agriculture, medical, biomanufacturing, environmental, industrial processes, and animal biotechnology.
- Organise idea-generation workshops, brainstorming meetings, and expert consultations.
- Promote the translational potential and commercialisation prospects of biotech products.
- Facilitate evaluation and monitoring of approved R&D projects.
- Handle regulatory and biosafety assessment of biotech products.
- Appraise proposals for FDI, foreign technology agreements, and industrial licensing.
- Manage IPR issues and patent facilitation initiatives.
- Support public-private partnerships and technology management activities.
- Represent the department in national and international collaborations.
- Manage governance and administrative oversight of DBT-supported institutions.
- Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Qualification
- PhD in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Computational / Pharmaceutical / Agricultural / Veterinary Sciences or related disciplines;
OR - PhD in Engineering/Technology – Chemical / Biomedical / Biotechnology / Biopharma;
OR - M.D. in any branch of medicine from a recognised University or Institute.
Equivalent qualifications recognised by the Government of India are also eligible.
Selection Process
Stage I – Written Examination
- 200 Objective Type Questions
- Maximum Marks: 200
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Negative marking applicable
Part A – General Aptitude
Part B – Scientific Subjects
Stage II – Interview
- Maximum Marks: 200
- Final Merit based on a total of 400 marks (Written + Interview).
