Key Areas of Responsibility
- Ensure comprehensive patient care and maintenance of quality standards in the pharmacy.
- Maintain the inventory level of the department.
- Store pharmaceuticals at optimum conditions to minimize expiry.
- Control drug purchases cost by negotiations and contracts.
- Deliver quality services of the pharmacy department to clients and employees.
- Dispense medications with clear instructions and correct labeling to patients.
- Provide clear, understandable instructions to discharge patients in a language known to them, with information leaflets if possible.
- Act as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescription orders, drugs, and pharmaceutical details, resident reactions, errors, and complaints.
- Maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environment, and injection control standards.
- Secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances regularly.
- Conduct stock taking and drug audit.
- Enter medication orders into the dispensing program and software.
- Check nurse unit stock lists and maintain minimum stock.
- Provide doctors with a formulary.
- Administer patient concerns and recommend changes in policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate departmental documentation.
- Treat all communication about patients, staff, and other organizational business confidentially.
- Involved in quality Assurance / Quality control activities.
- Perform all jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work.
Education: B.Pharm or D.Pharm
Experience: 1 to 6 years (Minimum 2 years preferred)
