Educational Requirements:
- MS or PhD in Pharmaceutics
- 3–8 years of experience in sensory or consumer research
- Beauty industry experience preferred; FMCG experience acceptable
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and manage sensory programs for makeup and skincare products
- Develop and maintain sensory lexicons and scorecards
- Recruit, train, and calibrate internal sensory panels
- Design and execute sensory studies with statistical rigor
- Translate sensory outcomes into formulation guidance
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and sensory target setting
- Correlate sensory data with instrumental measurements
- Evaluate fragrance performance, stability, and packaging interactions
- Maintain SOPs, databases, and data integrity
- Present insights using perceptual maps, heatmaps, and drivers of liking
Skills Required:
- Sensory panel training and test design
- Quantitative sensory analysis and statistics (ANOVA, PCA, preference mapping)
- Cross-functional collaboration with formulation teams
- High sensory acuity and structured evaluation discipline
- Insight storytelling and leadership presentation skills
