GlobalData Analyst Job Description
GlobalData Healthcare – Pharma is expanding its coverage of drug modalities and is looking for Analysts and Senior Analysts in Hyderabad to join the team. In this GlobalData analyst role, candidates will research the science behind advanced therapies, capture detailed technical information, and ensure accurate drug classification across databases. This position is ideal for researchers who combine depth in advanced modalities with a structured, detail-driven approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth secondary research on drugs across modalities and development stages, from discovery and preclinical work through clinical development and approval.
- Extract detailed technical attributes for each drug from scientific publications, conference abstracts, patents, and regulatory documents.
- Interpret complex technical information and decide what can be captured reliably, with clear source references.
- Track new drugs, pipeline events, and emerging technologies within assigned modalities.
- Contribute to the design and development of modality taxonomies, including hierarchical categories and controlled vocabularies.
- Write clear definitions, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and classification rules for each category and attribute.
- Create, review, and update drug records in GlobalData databases, identifying missing or inconsistent information.
- Collaborate with fellow analysts and subject matter experts to resolve scientific and classification questions.
Eligibility Criteria
- M. Pharm or M.S. (Pharm) in Pharmacology, Biotechnology, or a related specialization.
- M.Sc. or M. Tech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Microbiology, or a related life-science discipline.
- A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., immunology, cell and gene therapy, nucleic acid chemistry, antibody engineering).
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in pharma or biotech R&D, academic research, CROs, or scientific data curation.
- Hands-on laboratory or research experience in at least one advanced modality is strongly preferred.
- Experience with taxonomy or ontology development, biomedical data curation, or scientific classification is highly desirable.
Required Skills
- In-depth understanding of the science behind at least one advanced modality, and working knowledge of others.
- Strong foundation in molecular biology, immunology, and pharmacology, including targets and mechanisms of action.
- Good understanding of the drug development lifecycle, from discovery to post-marketing.
- Familiarity with drug naming conventions, including WHO INN nomenclature for biologics and cell and gene therapies.
- Structured thinking and the ability to break complex science into well-defined attributes.
- Advanced Excel skills and basic SQL or scripting knowledge are advantageous.
- Strong, systematic secondary research skills across various scientific sources.
- Ability to work independently and in a global team, managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
