Job Description

A Walk-in-interview will be conducted for the selection of Young Scientist-I/ R&D Associate I/ Senior Research Fellow/ Project Associate – I/Young Professional on Contract Basis at National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) – 613005 (Tamil Nadu) on 17/08/2026 at 9.30 AM. Eligible and interested candidates can appear for the walk-in interview for working in the following Projects as detailed below:

Key Responsibilities

• The selected candidate shall devote his/her whole time and attention to the interest of the assigned project and other related works assigned from time to time by the concerned PI/other superiors.
• Desirable: Experience in wet lab analyses, food safety/quality analysis and maintaining a laboratory.

• Essential Qualifications/Eligibility Criteria: Ph.D. in Food Science/ Food and Nutrition/ Food Technology/Chemical Engineering/ Agricultural Process Engineering/Food Process Engineering/Biochemical Engineering/Biological Engineering/Food Science and Technology/Biotechnology/Food Chemistry/Nanotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Phar maceutical Technology/Biosciences (or) 3 years of research, teaching and design & development experience after M.E./ M.Tech. in any of the above disciplines with at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

• Essential Qualifications/Eligibility Criteria: MTech or MSc in Food Process Engineering, Food Technology, Agricultural Process Engineering, Food Engineering and Management, Food and Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biosciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Post-Harvest Technology/Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Food Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering. MSc candidates must be NET-qualified if their bachelor’s degree was a 3-year programme.
• Monthly Remuneration: 45,000/- (consolidated)
• Date of Completion of Project/ Duration: 36 months

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Age Limit as on date of Interview (Young Scientist-I/ R&D Associate I/ Senior Research Fellow/Project Associate – I/Young Professional): 35 years for men and 40 years for women
2. Application Fee: Rs.500/- (SC/ST/PWD/Women Candidates are exempted from payment of fees).
3. Candidates are requested to fill the application form as per the format provided in the Institute’s website.
4. The filled-in application form (hard copy) should be submitted along with all the necessary documents/certificates copies during the time of the interview for verification.
5. The interview will be in person only at NIFTEM – Thanjavur. Candidates fulfilling the above eligible criteria are advised to be present on 17.08.2026 with original certificates, including OBC/SC/ST/PH certificates, grade card/mark sheets/publications, two color passport-size photographs, and CV, as well as a set of photocopies of all relevant documents along with the application form prescribed by NIFTEM-T at the time of the walk-in interview.
6. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview
7. The appointments are purely on a temporary and time-bound basis.
8. Tenure for Young Scientist-I/ R&D Associate I/ Senior Research Fellow/Project Associate – I/Young Professional: Tenure will be till the completion of the Project Period. However, the selected candidate is liable to be terminated at any time without assigning any reasons thereto. If the candidate intends to terminate his/her engagement on own volition, the candidate will have to give a one-month notice period in advance in writing or pay an amount equivalent to the monthly consolidated amount in lieu of the notice period.
9. The selected candidate shall devote his/her whole time and attention to the interest of the assigned project and other related works assigned from time to time by the concerned PI/other superiors. In case the candidate’s performance is found to be unsatisfactory, the candidate’s engagement can be terminated at any time without assigning any reason thereof.
10. The Institute reserves the right to revise / reschedule / cancel / suspend / withdraw the recruitment process without assigning any reason. The decision of the Institute shall be final, and no appeal in this regard shall be entertained. The Institute reserves the right to withdraw any advertisement
