Job Description
As a Product Safety Specialist – Raw Substances, you will assess the health and environmental safety data of raw materials to ensure compliance with global regulations. The role involves managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in SAP EHS systems, monitoring regulatory updates, and supporting safe chemical operations. You will also help business teams understand regulatory requirements related to product safety and market compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure chemical materials comply with GHS and regional safety regulations like REACH/CLP.
- Review and manage supplier Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in SAP EHS systems.
- Identify and document physical, health, and environmental hazards of chemicals.
- Monitor regulatory updates and maintain accurate safety data.
- Track raw material status changes within SAP systems.
- Support business teams and customers with regulatory-related queries.
- Act as a product safety expert in cross-functional projects.
- Help improve product safety processes and compliance activities.
- Perform additional duties to support the product safety team.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science.
- Preferred: Natural Science degree with specialization in Toxicology.
- 1–4 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or chemical industry.
- Experience with SAP systems and regulatory compliance processes.
Certifications & Language
- Knowledge of GHS regulation (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals).
- Preferred: Familiarity with EC No 1272/2008 (CLP) and EC No 1907/2006 (REACH) regulations.
- Business fluency in English and German.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong knowledge of SAP, Excel, and regulatory authority-mandated software.
- Project planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work hands-on and learn quickly.
- Team-oriented mindset with expertise in one or more areas: Environmental, Biological, Chemical, Regulatory, IT, or analytical tools.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
