Job Description
The Senior Clinical Coding Specialist will be responsible for coding adverse events, medical and surgical histories, medications, and other medical terminology using standard or sponsor-specific dictionaries such as MedDRA and WHO-DD. The role involves maintaining coding quality, supporting clinical data management, and coordinating dictionary updates. Key Responsibilities
- Coding for study start-up and existing/new EDC databases
- Input into Data Management Plans and User Acceptance Testing
- Review database specifications and CRFs
- Manual coding of medical and medication terms
- Coding consistency reports
- Dictionary implementation and version updates
- Communicate with sponsors on coding issues
- Mentor junior staff and monitor coding budgets and metrics
- Back up the Manager of Clinical Coding and Data Management as required
Eligibility Criteria
- Degree-level education, preferably in Life Sciences
- Training or experience in clinical coding with MedDRA and WHO-DD
- Minimum 3 years in clinical data coding or a related role in pharma, biotech, or medical devices
