Job Description
This Research Job at NCBS involves coordinating and participating in daily operations of the Mouse Genome Engineering Facility (MGEF), including transgenic and cryopreservation services. The role includes pronuclear microinjection, blastocyst injections, embryo transfers, survival surgeries, electroporation of CRISPR gene editing reagents into mouse embryos, and ES cell injections for generating germline chimeras. Responsibilities also include sperm and embryo cryopreservation, IVF rederivation of mouse lines, colony management, post-surgical animal care, and maintaining accurate records as per Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations of transgenic and cryopreservation services
- Perform pronuclear microinjection and blastocyst injections
- Conduct embryo transfers and survival surgeries
- Electroporation of CRISPR gene editing reagents into embryos
- Handle sperm and embryo collection, cryopreservation and recovery
- Cell culture and injection of gene-targeted ES cells
- Animal husbandry, colony management and post-surgical monitoring
- Maintain accurate records and manage client project data
Required Skills
- Excellent organization and recordkeeping
