    Job Description

    TIFR Hyderabad is inviting applications for the position of Project Scientific Officer (B). The selected candidate will work in advanced Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics research, handling sophisticated analytical instruments, supporting research projects, developing analytical workflows, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and assisting researchers with metabolomics data interpretation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate and manage LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF-MS, and related Mass Spectrometry platforms.
    • Perform instrument calibration, tuning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
    • Develop and validate analytical workflows for metabolomics applications.
    • Conduct metabolite extraction and sample preparation from biological samples.
    • Analyze and interpret metabolomics and mass spectrometry datasets.
    • Perform stable isotope data analysis.
    • Maintain laboratory SOPs, QA/QC procedures, and calibration records.
    • Maintain documentation for sample processing, maintenance, inventories, and laboratory records.
    • Participate in user training, research collaborations, and development of new analytical methods.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Essential Qualification

    • Master’s Degree (60% Marks): Full-time Master’s degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related disciplines from a recognized university.
    • Relevant Educational Background: Candidates must possess qualifications aligned with pharmaceutical or life science disciplines.

    Essential Experience

    • Laboratory Experience: Minimum 3 years of full-time laboratory experience in Mass Spectrometry, Metabolomics, LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF-MS, isotope tracer studies, or small molecule/metabolite analysis.
    • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in advanced analytical techniques and laboratory workflows related to metabolomics and mass spectrometry.

    General Information

    Before applying for the Project Scientific Officer (B) position at TIFR Hyderabad, candidates should carefully read the following important details:

    1. Job Location

    • The selected candidate will be posted at TIFR Hyderabad.
    • However, if required, the candidate may be transferred to other TIFR Centres or Field Stations.

    2. Appointment Duration

    • This is a temporary, non-pensionable project position.
    • The initial appointment will be for 1 year.
    • Based on performance and project requirements, the appointment may be renewed every year for a maximum of 3 years.
    • This position does not guarantee permanent employment at TIFR during or after the project period.
    3. Working Schedule

    • Selected candidates may be required to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays if needed by the Institute.

    4. Age Limit

    • The maximum age should not exceed 28 years as on 31 July 2026.
    • Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

    5. Reservation

    • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD categories are eligible to apply as per Government norms, wherever applicable.

    7. NOC for Government Employees

    During Selection: Candidates must carry the original documents along with self-attested copies during the recruitment process:

    • Valid Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence).

    • Educational certificates and mark sheets.

    9. Travel Allowance for Interview

    • Outstation candidates shortlisted for the recruitment process will be reimbursed for Second Class return train fare by the shortest route upon submission of travel tickets.
    • If travelling by air, tickets must be booked only through Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. (BLCL), Ashok Travels & Tours (ATT), or IRCTC. The reimbursement will be limited to the eligible train fare.

    10. Selection Process

    The recruitment process may include one or more of the following stages:

    • Written Test
    • Skill Test
    • Personal Interview

    The Institute may conduct these online or offline, depending on the recruitment requirements.

    11. Important Points

    • Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection or an interview call.
