- Minimum Educational Qualifications: Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical (Bio)Technology, Biochemical Engineering, or equivalent degrees in relevant fields from a recognized University/Institute.
- Desirable Qualifications/Experience: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in recombinant DNA technology (site-directed/saturation mutagenesis), protein purification, biocatalysis, and analytical techniques such as HPLC are desirable.
- Age Limit: 35 years (The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/women, and 3 years for OBC candidates).
- Job Requirement: In this CSIR NCL Project Associate role, the candidate will work in the areas of biology/chemistry interface, biocatalysis, enzyme engineering, and applied enzymology.
Consolidated Emoluments per Month:
- ₹31,000 + HRA for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET including lectureship/assistant professorship or GATE, or those who have qualified national level examinations conducted by central government departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their agencies/institutions.
- ₹25,000 + HRA for others who do not fall under the above category.
The engagement will be coterminous with the tenure of the sponsored project, subject to satisfactory performance or conduct of the appointee. The engagement will be purely on a temporary basis and shall not be a CSIR/NCL appointment, temporary or otherwise, and shall not entitle the appointee to any right/claim whatsoever, implicit or explicit, for consideration against any CSIR-NCL post/fellowship.

The prescribed educational qualifications are a bare minimum, and merely possessing the same will not entitle candidates to be called for an interview. Where the number of applications received in response to this Notice of engagement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendation of the Screening Committee, the Project Leader may restrict the number of candidates to be called for an interview to reasonable limits after taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed in the Notice. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates to mention all qualifications and experience in the relevant field on the date of advertisement.
The candidates recommended by the Screening Committee to be called for an interview would be notified on the website as well as the divisional Notice Board on 14 September 2026, or the candidates may ascertain the information by contacting Dr. Mahesh Patil at md.patil.ncl@csir.res.in.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear before the Selection Committee for an online interview. The URL link for the online interview will be provided to shortlisted candidates later via email on or before 14 September 2026. The interview will be conducted on 16 September 2026 from 10:15 AM online through a suitable medium such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx, etc. No interview call letter will be issued separately. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately upon receipt of the offer of engagement.
